Good morning, Longview.

Longview will observe Memorial Day on Monday at Teague Park’s Veterans Memorial Plaza from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.—Kevin Marshall will lead the service featuring a prayer, flag presentation, the pledge, national anthem, wreath placement, a 21-gun salute and taps.

Kilgore ISD announced Kristen Moss as the 2025 Elementary Teacher of the Year and Kaitlyn Brisendine as the 2025 Secondary Teacher of the Year.

Moss, who teaches 3rd-grade at Chandler Elementary (and was named her campus' Teacher of the Year) and Brisendine, who teaches 8th-grade math at Kilgore Middle School (and leads the math department), were chosen for their strong classroom impact.

Many East Texas families will travel this Memorial Day weekend and AAA advises drivers to check their vehicles—looking for flat tires, overheated engines, and dead batteries—before leaving early to avoid heavy traffic and roadside emergencies.

AAA also reminds drivers to move over or slow down 20 mph when an emergency vehicle is on the roadside.
