Good morning, Longview.

Longview law firm Miller Fair Henry represented Headwater Research when a federal jury awarded $278.8 million in damages to the Tyler company for patent infringement by Samsung.

The trial in Marshall found that Samsung infringed on all six claims of Headwater’s patents that improve wireless communication and battery life—marking a key win for the firm.

Longtime dance instructor Tena Scalco Novy closed her Dance Studio Longview after a 34-year ride by holding her final recital Sunday at 3 p.m. at LeTourneau University's Belcher Center — tickets cost $10.

She said the change comes as she embraces a new chapter with her husband, Judge Scott Novy, and plans to continue teaching at Elite Dance Center.

AAA reports that gas prices in Longview average $2.79 today and are down by 41 cents from last Memorial Day — even though the national average has risen slightly in the past week with more summer travel planned.

Professional and amateur BMX riders competed at Longview’s Dodson Action Sports Complex on May 17, where the revived Monster Energy Recon Tour offered UCI BMX World Cup points toward the 2028 Olympics — and local BMX legend Morgan Wade, who helped build the facility, demonstrated his skills during practice.
