- ➤ Local lawyer Bo Rogers collapsed while working in Lakeport in April and was rescued by the Longview Fire Department before doctors at CHRISTUS Good Shepherd performed urgent cardiac procedures; he later returned to thank the hospital staff for saving his life. KETK
- ➤ A UT Health Jacksonville doctor advises residents to protect their sobriety during holiday gatherings between Thanksgiving and New Year's by suggesting five steps such as planning an exit, bringing a non-alcohol drink, relying on support, managing expectations, and scheduling sober activities. - ➤ Troup junior Brett Wells earned MVP honors for the District 11-3A Division II All-District Football Team after amassing over 2,000 offensive yards and 100 tackles. His season included 208 carries for 1,949 yards and 33 touchdowns (a standout performance on offense and defense). Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Whitehouse ISD named Brett Gilchrist as its new head football coach. The former offensive coordinator at Frisco Lone Star will begin his duties on Jan. 5, 2026 — he aims to strengthen both the team’s performance and character. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Longview High School alumnus and Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King is named the 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recipient after guiding a 9-3 season. He will receive the honor during a banquet in Tyler on Saturday & is set to play in the Pop-Tart Bowl against BYU. KETK
- ➤ Daingerfield junior Reign Wallace earned MVP honors on Tuesday, Dec. 23 — he passed for one touchdown, ran for two scores and caught 57 passes as part of his standout season on the District 10-3A All-District Football Team. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Longview’s Triniti Jackson earned MVP and Setter of the Year honors at the East Texas Volleyball All-Star Games held at Spring Hill. She recorded 702 assists, 401 kills, and other standout numbers during a season that elevated her to District 10-6A top honors. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ LeTourneau men’s basketball junior Logan Brinkoeter was named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week after averaging a double-double in two wins, while the women’s team will resume regular season play Dec. 30 against Manchester following an exhibition loss to Grambling. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ The Kilgore Bulldogs earned top honors when the 9-4A All-District Team was released Tuesday, Dec. 23, recognizing district champions and state finalists. Senior Lakeyleon Graves was named District MVP, QB Kayson Brooks earned Offensive Player of the Year while Cameron Christian was named Defensive Player of the Year (voted by district coaches).
