- ➤ Habitat for Humanity reopened its Habitat ReStore at 907 McCann Road on Tuesday with new products from partnerships with Ace Hardware, Orgill, Floors & Decor, and MSI Flooring (Jonathan McClish is its new manager). - ➤ East Texas communities are spotlighting many Christmas events this season. In Longview, the 24th Annual Special Needs Christmas Festival takes place today while other local gatherings—from craft nights to art shows—are scheduled from Dec. 15 to Dec. 26 (each promising festive cheer). KETK

- ➤ Kilgore College is now accepting applications to fill a Board of Trustees vacancy left by Lon Ford (Central Zone coverage includes the local school district). Materials must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Jan. 23, and the appointed candidate will serve until the general election in May 2029. Kilgore News Herald
- ➤ The UIL released cutoff numbers today for realignment to take place on Feb. 3 (2026), establishing enrollment thresholds for classifications from 6A to 1A that assign Tyler Legacy and Longview to 6A and group other schools accordingly. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ The TABC Weekly Basketball Polls released Tuesday, Dec. 16 rank girls Class 6A teams, with Austin Westlake holding a 19-0 record and Longview positioned at 11th with a 13-0 record. - ➤ Overton Lady Mustangs finished second in the silver bracket at St. Mary’s tournament from Dec. 11-13. Players Ashby Croswell and Aniston Holleman achieved double-doubles in wins – though the team lost 26-19 to Calvary in the finale. Kilgore News Herald
- ➤ State semifinalist Spring Hill, Tatum and Beckville honored several volleyball players on the TGCA 2025 All-State and Academic Teams following playoff runs — standouts like Elizabeth Corbitt helped lead Spring Hill to the state semifinals, while athletes from Longview, White Oak and other schools also earned recognition. - ➤ Kilgore's Lady Bulldogs competed at the Central Heights Holiday Hoopsfest from Dec. 11-13 and finished 1-3 after a 37-31 loss to Central Heights, a win over Westwood and losses to CHSA and Diboll. The team will begin District 16-4A play Tuesday at home against Chapel Hill. Kilgore News Herald
- ➤ Today at 7 p.m., Joaquin will face Hamilton in the Class 2A DI State Championship at AT&T Stadium, 1 AT&T Way, Arlington. This is the first state championship appearance for both teams this season. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ The Spring Hill Lady Panthers opened District 16-4A with a 50-32 win over the Gilmer Buckeyes on Tuesday at Panther Gymnasium, improving to 12-5 while Gilmer fell to 2-15. Meanwhile, the boys lost 69-49 to Pleasant Grove in a non-district match. Longview News-Journal
