  • Residents laid wreaths at Shiloh Cemetery for fallen veterans during the national Wreaths Across America event Saturday. The ceremony, coordinated by Debra Christian (executive director of the Christian Restoration Community Residential Care Program), featured guest speakers and Tyler High School Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps.  KETK

CULTURE NEWS

  • Singer Bob Dylan will perform his Rough and Rowdy Ways Tour at 8 p.m. April 29 at the University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Center (tickets available 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the box office). Attendees must store cellphones in Yondr pouches for a phone-free event.  Longview News-Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The library's weekly youth programs will take a holiday break from December 22 to January 4, with events like Sensory Playtime, Discovery Kids STEAM Labs, Babygarten Story Time, Early Learning Journeys Story Time, Teen Esports Game Day, and LEGO @ The Library resuming next year.  City of Longview

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kilgore routed La Vernia 49 to 0 Friday at John Eddie Williams Field on Baylor University's McLane Stadium. The Bulldogs will play for the Class 4A Division I state championship at 11 a.m. on Dec. 19 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.  Longview News-Journal
  • The Mt. Enterprise Wildcats ended their season with a 28-8 loss to the Shiner Comanches in the state 2A Division II semifinals Friday in New Cany. Senior Kaegan Ash broke a 72-year-old record — reaching 11,377 yards.  Longview News-Journal
  • LeTourneau fell to Hardin-Simmons 119-106 at Solheim Arena Friday. Teigan Edwards scored a career-best 27 points while freshmen Max Frels and Jayden Prioleau added valuable contributions — LETU is 4-3 and will face Millsaps on Thursday at 5 p.m.  Longview News-Journal
  • The Longview Lady Lobos closed out their non-district schedule with a 63-36 win over Mineola on Friday, improving to a 13-0 record and led by Destiny Vories; they will play District 10-6A action in Rockwall on Tuesday.  Longview News-Journal
  • The No. 7 seed Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks fell to No. 2 Montana State 44+28 on Friday in the FCS playoffs at Bobcat Stadium, snapping their record 11-game win streak. Montana State will play either Montana or South Dakota in the semifinals next week.  Longview News-Journal
