- ➤ During Tuesday evening’s parade downtown, a panel awarded prizes to winning floats at the Longview AMBUCS Christmas Parade, with Best of Show going to C and C Tree - Land Management and Grand Marshal's Award to Komatsu for best lighting. The event was organized by Downtown Longview, the city, and Longview AMBUCS. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Attorney Kelly Heitkamp has set up a pet memorial on a holly bush outside her law office at 409 E. Magrill St., where pet owners can hang weatherproof photos, collars, or toys until Jan. 6. The display helps the community honor lost pets. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ The Longview Junior League has released its new 'Christmas in the Pineywoods' cookbook featuring holiday recipes such as Marilyn's Cranberry Coffee Cake and Buttermilk Syrup. Copies are available for $45 cash or check (or $58 with fees) at its office on North Fourth St. Ste. C. Longview News-Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Three state semifinal games will be played at 7 p.m. Friday — Carthage takes on Brock at Mesquite Memorial Stadium, Kilgore faces La Vernia at McLane Stadium, and Mount Enterprise meets Shiner at Randall Reed Stadium. The winners will advance to their respective state championship games. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Lone Star teams are in the FCS quarterfinals as SFA takes on Montana State today at 7 p.m. in Bozeman (on ESPN) and Tarleton State faces Villanova Saturday at 11 a.m. in Stephenville. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Kilgore College Rangers built a strong 51-30 halftime lead to beat Navarro 83-76 at Masters Gymnasium on Wednesday — their win puts them at 9-2 as Navarro drops to 0-3 in conference play. Kilgore News Herald
- ➤ Former Lobo and current Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King was named finalist for the 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award today, which honors college football standouts. The final winner will be announced in late December and celebrated at a Tyler banquet on Jan. 21. Longview News-Journal
