COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Brookshire’s donated $40K on Wednesday to support CHRISTUS Children’s Miracle Network, adding to over $3 million in contributions over nearly 38 years to children’s health care in East Texas (the longest-running charitable partnership).  KETK

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Ruby’s Mexican Restaurant (formerly Tuscan Pig) will open today at 10 a.m. at 401 S. High St after finishing cosmetic updates. It will serve its full menu beginning at 11 a.m. and plans to eventually add breakfast and a full bar later this month.  Longview News-Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Longview Museum of Fine Arts is hosting its Holiday Tea Room & Market through Friday. The event offers free holiday shopping from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and tea room dining from noon to 1 p.m. with tickets ranging from $30 to $500.  Longview News-Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The UIL released updated enrollment numbers for East Texas high schools, with Tyler Legacy leading at 2,800 students while Longview High and Tyler High followed. The report compares enrollment for the period from 2026 to 2028 with that for 2024 to 2026 as part of UIL’s transparency effort.  KETK

SPORTS NEWS

  • Kilgore beat Gladewater 46-38 on Tuesday as Serenity Oliver scored 19 points and will play next in the Central Heights Holiday Hoopfest Dec. 11-13. Overton won 41-23 on Monday when Ashby Croswell recorded her first triple double — the Mustangs now look ahead to the St. Mary’s tournament Dec. 11-13.  Kilgore News Herald
  • Restaurants and bars across East Texas are hosting watch parties to support SFA football as the team prepares to face Montana State in the quarterfinals on Saturday. A sendoff is held today at 10:45 a.m. in the Homer Bryce Stadium parking lot.  KETK
  • On Tuesday, the Longview Lobos beat crosstown rival Pine Tree 63-34 at the Pirate Center, with Jayden Tyeski scoring 25 points and helping build a strong second-quarter lead. The Lady Lobos, Spring Hill Lady Panthers, and Pine Tree Lady Pirates also earned wins in their games.  Longview News-Journal
  • Longview’s Triniti Jackson and Tatum’s Kaysen Foster earned MVP honors at Sunday’s East Texas All-Star Volleyball Matches at Spring Hill High School — an event that benefited local families through the Breakfast With Santa program.  Longview News-Journal
  • Tournaments begin today as Brownsboro hosts the Great East Texas Shootout for 18 boys teams, Brook Hill holds its Invitational in Bullard featuring five teams, Frankston launches a mixed tournament for 8 boys and 10 girls teams, and Gary opens the 2025 Bobcat Classic with a 9 a.m. start.  Longview News-Journal
