- ➤ Downtown Longview will host the AMBUCS Annual Christmas Parade at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6—if rain occurs, the event will move to Dec. 9—featuring decorated floats, marching bands, Santa Claus, and food trucks along Whaley and Methvin streets. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Retired engineer Larry Sinsel, known as Santa Larry in East Texas, reads holiday stories and connects with children and families at local events using his bilingual skills & strong community ties. - ➤ On Friday afternoon at Stephens Family Arena, the No.6 seeded LETU volleyball team lost 3-1 to the No.3 seeded Schreiner Mountaineers—ending their season. Aubree McCann finished her career with 21 kills and seven digs as the YellowJackets closed the year at 19-12. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ LeTourneau men’s basketball rallied from a big deficit to beat Belhaven 109-86 Saturday at Solheim Arena — Jackson Mayes tied his career-high with 31 points and Cooper Smith set a new record with 21 points. The women’s team earned their first win of the season by beating College of Biblical Studies 71-50 and will play an exhibition game today against Houston Christian — catch it live on ESPN+. - ➤ In Gladewater, Elysian Fields beat the Como-Pickton Eagles 45–16 on Monday to win the bi-district championship after a five-year playoff drought — head coach Bo Maines said a strong offense and defense led to the win. They will face Garrison in the area round next Thursday in Henderson — a matchup that will test the Yellowjackets' resolve. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ East Texas high school football teams, including the Longview Lobos, are set to play in the second round of playoffs this Thursday and Friday at regional stadiums. Winners will advance to the state semifinals before championship games are held from Dec. 17 to Dec. 20 in +Arlington+. KETK
- ➤ At Masters Gymnasium on Saturday, the McLennan Highlanders rallied to beat the Kilgore College Rangers 67 to 66 while Joseph Mayberry and Howard Gaskins each scored 15 points—Kilgore will try to rebound on the road today at 7 p.m. against Southwestern Christian College in Terrell.
