- ➤ The City of Longview and area nonprofits announced an urgent food drive to aid families facing food insecurity from a SNAP pause amid the federal shutdown. The one-day drive—featuring drive-thru in-person donations of non-perishable food, hygiene items, and baby supplies—and an online fund via Greater Longview United Way will run on November 7 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Longview Convention Complex. - ➤ Longview’s first Braum’s store will open next week at 3069 Eastman Road—offering dairy products and full-service dining with hamburgers and ice cream, while a second shop near N. Spur 63 is expected to debut by Christmas. Construction on a third location at 1420 W. Loop 281 will start this month next to Dutch Bros. Coffee and across from Milano’s Ristorante. - ➤ Hundreds of veterans attended the Longview Hiring Red, White, and YOU! Job Fair on Wednesday in Longview—organized by East Texas Workforce Solutions to help them and their families find jobs. - ➤ Five East Texas teams remain undefeated entering week 11 and rank in the bEASTTexas Fabulous 15 poll — Carthage, Canton, Troup, Mount Enterprise and Frankston will face Brownsboro, Sunnyvale, Buffalo, Alto and Cayuga in upcoming games to try for 10–0 seasons. - ➤ At Masters Gymnasium on Tuesday, Kilgore College won 89-68 over Grayson College with Kaiden Myers scoring 19 points and three other players reaching double figures—Kilgore led at halftime and outscored Grayson in the second half.
