BUSINESS NEWS

  • Longview’s Sprouts Farmer Market opened Friday morning with shoppers enjoying samples and discounts. A FRESH by Brookshire’s store will have its soft opening Nov 11 and construction will begin in January on a 96-unit expansion of The Residences at Toler — while local home sales saw a small decline in median prices.  Longview News-Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Longview ISD said Schneider Electric removed the solar panels at Johnston-McQueen Elementary because the installation was not level and they will add dirt to re-grade the area at no extra cost. A food drive will be held at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center on November 7 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to help low-income families affected by the government shutdown.  Longview News-Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • On November 2, the Tatum Eagles beat the White Oak Roughnecks 50—49 in overtime in a game marked by ten lead changes; Grant Adcock led with key passes and runs that pushed Tatum in its bid for the final District 8—3A playoff berth.  Longview News-Journal
  • Longview high school football stars showed strong plays in a 56-55 loss to North Forney as Hamilton completed 15 of 20 passes for 373 yards and five touchdowns & Hurndon caught eight passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns while Williams, Tubb and Hampton-Williams added key tackles.  Longview News-Journal
  • Chapel Hill beat the Henderson Lions 56-35 on a chilly Halloween night (Bulldog Stadium) and clinched the fourth playoff spot in District 9-4A; the team now awaits its playoff draw.  Longview News-Journal
  • In Week 10 ET High School Football, several teams delivered strong performances as the Vandals won 58—7 over North Lamar—led by Rawley Hinch’s 258 passing yards and key touchdowns—and the Gladewater Bears clinched the District 8—3A Division I title with a 34—16 win over Atlanta. Standout plays in other matchups set the stage as teams prepared to conclude district play next Friday.  Longview News-Journal
  • On Saturday, the Kilgore College women's team celebrated with a championship ring ceremony and unveiled a new banner as they beat ETBU JV 97-56—while the men beat Saint Thomas JV 102-44 at Masters Gymnasium. The women's team will play in the Panola Classic this weekend with a game against Pearl River on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and another on Saturday, and the men's team will host Grayson on Tuesday at 6 p.m.  Longview News-Journal
