ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A trailer fire in Henderson County killed 4 dogs on Sunday afternoon in Payne Springs—volunteers from several agencies responded and no people were hurt.  KETK

BUSINESS NEWS

  • FRESH by Brookshire’s in Longview will open its new 66,000 square foot store at 3121 N. Eastman Road with a grand opening at 10 a.m. on Nov. 12 plus a soft opening from 5-7 p.m. on Nov. 11; the store will offer natural, organic and chef-prepared foods along with a sushi counter, artisan bakery and more.  Longview News-Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Longview ISD, Kilgore College and UT Tyler signed an MOU on Monday to launch an Early College program for Longview High juniors, who will earn up to 60 college credits at Kilgore College before they graduate — the first students will begin classes in summer 2026.  KETK
  • Longview ISD hired Benjamin Kemper as the new chief of district safety after nearly 24 years with the Longview Police Department. Kemper (a 1993 Longview High School alumnus) will visit each campus (to build trust and improve communication) as he works to strengthen safety protocols.  Longview News-Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • In week 9 primetime football, local teams posted strong wins as players delivered standout performances with big passing and rushing stats. Kilgore’s Brooks threw for 228 yards and five touchdowns in a win by 55 to 3 — many others logged key plays to boost their teams’ season momentum.  Kilgore News Herald
  • LeTourneau’s men’s basketball team under coach James Wallace has set its season with 25 games, beginning with an exhibition at Sam Houston on Nov. 3 and a home opener against Mary Hardin-Baylor on Nov. 13 at Solheim Arena with free admission + they will play 16 SCAC games along with nonconference matches. LeTourneau’s women’s team under coach Scot MacAllister released a schedule that starts with an exhibition at Howard Payne on Nov. 11 and a home opener on Nov. 15 with free admission + the team will host free games and compete in SCAC play before a conference tournament from Feb. 27 to March 1 in Conway.  Longview News-Journal
  • The Overton Lady Mustangs swept Carlisle by winning 25 to 20, 25 to 21, and 25 to 19 on Friday afternoon to claim the first seed in 2A Division 1. They will face Elysian Fields at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in Overton — Carlisle, with a 15 to 19 record, will play Garrison at 6 p.m. at Henderson High School.  Kilgore News Herald
  • Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine published its latest high school football team polls yesterday showing SL Carroll leading Class 6A while the Carthage Bulldogs remain atop Class 4A Division II—results include rankings for additional classes across the state.  Longview News-Journal
