- ➤ At the annual Harvest Festival and Livestock Show at the Longview Fairgrounds, students from nearby counties showed their hard work by raising chickens and other animals yesterday. The event featured judging contests and family teamwork that taught a lesson on where food comes from — a full-blown practice in animal care. Kilgore News Herald
- ➤ Treasure hunters gathered at the East Texas Treasure Show on Saturday, October 25 at the Longview Exhibit Center where families and enthusiasts saw coins, artifacts and fossils and veteran Terry Smith shared his 5,000-bottle find—marking the event's first time in Longview. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ In downtown Longview on Saturday, the Green Street Monster Fest took place under the Green Street bridge—known for swallowing oversized vehicles—and featured live music by Sunny Sweeney, Wes Jeans and headliner Bowling For Soup. Zahck Israel of Ollie's Skate Shop organized the event with local entrepreneurs and businesses while vendors offered food, drinks and merchandise. Longview News-Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UT Tyler professor Dr. Adam McGuire secured a $1.2 million merit award from the Veterans Affairs on Saturday, October 25 to lead a clinical trial testing his online treatment MOVED for veterans with PTSD across Texas—he plans to recruit 250 veterans for eight self-guided sessions over four weeks. The four-year project aims to lower PTSD symptoms, boost social functioning, and offer clinical research experience for UT Tyler doctoral students. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ Tyler Apaches beat Kilgore College Rangers 38—17 on Saturday at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium in a Southwest Junior College Football Conference game. The Apaches overcame five turnovers and 19 penalties to improve to 8-0 while Kilgore fell to 2-5. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Johnny Hamilton—who threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns—helped the Lobos win 31-7 over Rockwall-Heath, while Jaden Hurndon caught five passes for 116 yards and a touchdown and Lawson Tubb made 14 tackles—three for loss. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Overton Mustangs beat Alto 47 to 3 on Friday as Rylan Holleman rushed 11 times for 94 yards and scored two touchdowns while Justin Weir scored twice and both Gunnar Whitfield and Hunter Klima recorded three sacks each—improving Overton to a 5 to 3 record and setting them to host Mt. Enterprise next Thursday. Kilgore News Herald
- ➤ Friday high school football saw an exciting game as the Mt. Enterprise Wildcats, led by Kaegan Ash who rushed 34 times for 495 yards and seven touchdowns, defeated Lovelady 82—60 in a District 11—2A matchup. Other wins included Troup (35—21), Atlanta (14—7), Jefferson (47—0), New Diana (42—34), Arp (61—0), Frankston (45—14), Overton (47—3), Athens (60—6), Canton (58—15) and Hyde Park (28—20).
