COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center and Duck. Duck. Moose! will join forces on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at Community Connections (501 Pine Tree Road) for Howling with Laughter, an unscripted, family-friendly improv show that teaches pet ownership skills.  City of Longview
  • The Harvest Festival and Livestock Show is underway in Longview as students display their livestock talents by presenting the best three birds raised over six weeks and competing in speech, home economics, and ag mechanics events. The long-standing event — which has awarded over $1.4 million in scholarships since 1975 — will conclude on Saturday with a dinner and sale.  KETK

CRIME NEWS

  • Longview High School was placed on HOLD Wednesday after a small fight between students triggered an immediate response from staff and district safety personnel—officials said the altercation was resolved following district protocol—ensuring no ongoing threat to campus safety.  KETK

CULTURE NEWS

  • Longview will host its second annual Green Street Monster Fest on Saturday under the Green Street railroad underpass where Bowling for Soup headlines a rain-or-shine event featuring local acts including Sunny Sweeney and Marshall’s Wes Jeans. Tickets cost $49 for general admission and $150 for VIP—organizers plan to revive the local music scene as vendors offer food, art, and crafts.  Longview News-Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local librarians offer a new teen hangout for ages 13 to 17 that meets monthly after school with fun projects and activities. The free event on October 28 runs from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. — this month, teens will build Huggable Monstrosity monsters for Halloween fun.  City of Longview

  • Workforce Solutions for East Texas is hosting the statewide hiring event Red, White, & You — aimed at connecting veterans, transitioning military members, and military spouses — with employers across Texas.   • Longview Municipal Court will host Coffee with Court on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Municipal Annex Lobby to let residents enjoy free coffee and ask court staff questions about court services during Municipal Courts Week.  City of Longview

SPORTS NEWS

  • West Rusk swept Sabine in three sets Tuesday in Gladewater as the Lady Raiders won (25-18, 25-20, 25-12) behind Kimora Pryor’s 22 assists and key plays. The team, tied 8-3 in district play with Troup, will face Troup this Friday on Senior Night to battle for playoff seeding.  Kilgore News Herald
