- ➤ Downtown Longview’s AMBUCS Christmas Parade will occur on December 4 at 6:30 p.m. and entry applications remain open through October 31 for teams to submit festive displays that honor the 'Reindeer Games' theme — registration is via an application process that does not guarantee participation, and the parade follows its traditional downtown route. - ➤ Tuscan Pig Italian Kitchen in Longview will close on Oct. 25 and its building will reopen as Ruby’s Mexican Restaurant by mid-November—pending city permitting. Rudy Kiapetta and his wife, Chef Miriam, are retiring after running the restaurant and are handing the torch to Ruby’s, a popular Tyler-based chain with plans for an outdoor mural and a mixed drink license. - ➤ Dr. Adam McGuire, an associate professor at UT Tyler, received a $1.2 million merit award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to research a self-guided PTSD treatment called MOVED for Texas veterans—he will lead a 4-year clinical trial that includes hands-on training for UT Tyler doctoral students. The trial will recruit veterans from across Texas to determine if MOVED reduces PTSD symptoms and improves social functioning. KETK

In men's soccer, a freshman duo powered the YellowJackets to a 3-1 win with Henry Shore recording a hat trick while the women’s team lost 1-0 to St. Thomas and will host Dallas on Friday at 5 p.m. — the results set a busy sports weekend for the school.
