- ➤ The Longview Arboretum welcomes fall with a plant sale on Sept. 27 that opens at 9 a.m.—local gardeners can pick up plants and treats while enjoying festive seasonal tips. - ➤ The city said it will install culverts to stop flooding at 1709 Wellington Lane using a $200,000 allocation, but contracts will be finalized after Oct. 1 when the new budget begins. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ At the Longview Chamber of Commerce’s State of the Workforce event last Wednesday, local schools and businesses showed programs that help students learn job skills, and U.S.Rep. Nathaniel Moran explained his plans in Congress to offer tax credits for apprenticeship programs and use Pell Grants for course funding. Moran also described a bill to use tariff money to cut national debt — steps meant to build a stronger skilled workforce in the area. Longview News-Journal
