- ➤ The Texas Commission on the Arts awarded over $168K in grants to Longview’s Arts!Longview Cultural District and five local nonprofit arts organizations—Arts!Longview, Longview Museum of Fine Arts, Longview Symphony Orchestra, ArtsView Children’s Theatre and Theatre Longview. The funds will support a statewide marketing campaign and upcoming events such as a Howard Shore concert in April, a Native American exhibition, and a summer musical. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ The City of Longview invites residents to attend the first open house for the Housing Needs Assessment and Action Plan on Tuesday, September 23rd at 5:30 p.m. in the Eitelman Conference Room at the Maude Cobb Convention Center—where community members can learn about plans to address current and future housing needs and offer input. - ➤ David Richardson of Athens — a Class 4A player — and Kavian Bryant of Palestine Westwood — a Class 3A player — were named Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Players of the Week for Week 1 of the 2025 season; Richardson led his team to a 56-49 win with a last-second touchdown while Bryant threw for 469 yards in a 54-14 victory over Mexia.
