Educators say the new state ban on cellphones has improved classroom focus and face-to-face conversation as fewer than 1% of students had their devices confiscated in the first week—teachers now report a decrease in distractions and social drama.

House lawmakers stalled Senate Bill 6, which would have banned THC products that contain more than 0.3% delta-9 THC—leaving hemp-derived products legal under current rules during the special session.

Legislators may revisit the issue if they reconvene after the holiday as the session nears its end.
