ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Three people became unconscious after a hydrogen sulfide gas leak was found in a manhole in Westwood Shores while emergency crews are recovering them; the shelter-in-place order is lifted, but officials urge residents to avoid Dawns Edge — Creek Way to Oak Ridge.  KETK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Municipal Court will resume holding court sessions and jury trials in the Municipal Annex Building at 302 W. Cotton Street beginning Sept. 2 (payment for fines and tickets will temporarily be handled at the Roy Stone Training Center next door).  City of Longview

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Longview High School tennis team lost to Rockwall 10-4 on Tuesday in District 10-6A play — the Lobos have a 5-8 record and will host Forney at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.  Longview News-Journal
  • Today, Hallsville and Lindale open the 2025 football season at 7 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium in Hallsville — both teams rely on key players from last season as they aim for a strong start. Other Thursday matchups include Tatum versus Winnsboro, Gladewater versus Daingerfield, Waskom versus Garrison, and Texas High against Tyler Legacy, with Nacogdoches set to face Palestine on Friday.  Longview News-Journal
