- ➤ The Longview Animal Control and Adoption Center was full of smiles at the annual Clear the Shelter event Saturday, August 23 — adoption fees were waived with dog treat donations as special guests joined a festive effort to help find loving homes for every shelter pet. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ The inaugural Pines for a Cure event at the Longview Exhibit Center on Saturday drew crowds to support pediatric cancer research with vendors, live music, an auto show and food. Servant Souls East Texas Riding Club hosted the event and boosted local spirit+hope for future research efforts. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ Longview police found a body on the 500 block of East Loop 281 at 4:11 p.m. Saturday and are processing the scene (no public danger has been indicated) while asking anyone with information to call (903) 237-1170. Longview News-Journal
