BUSINESS NEWS

  • The much-anticipated Cargo restaurant and entertainment complex will open Monday at The Crossing at Main and Main, built from shipping containers and featuring pickleball courts, a putting course, a splash pad for Cargo Kids, a roof deck and an outdoor concert venue—Michael Graham of Cargo LLC announced the launch on Facebook. In other business news, Longview Family Physical Therapy has moved to a larger space at 2001 Judson Road, and Jucys Taco will begin offering breakfast at its final Longview location on Sept. 8.  Longview News-Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • A mural was added to the water tower on High Street near downtown Longview following nearly $900,000 in maintenance work paid from the water fund, and Arts! Longview received a $90,000 grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts for the new design—Holly Forbes from Forbes & Butler crafted the artwork while Hayes Engineering oversaw the project.  Longview News-Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Texas Education Agency released school district ratings for 2024-2025 and KETK compiled a list showing how districts fared—Longview ISD earned a B while others received grades ranging from A to F.  KETK

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tempest Golf Club in Gladewater will host the 50th Texas Four-Ball championship from Aug. 22 to 24, featuring three divisions of teams in a 54-hole stroke play format + the tournament is organized by the Texas Golf Association.  Longview News-Journal
  • Troup and Gladewater held their first scrimmage of the 2025 season at Tiger Stadium on Thursday night. During the controlled part, Gladewater scored twice and Troup once, and in the live quarter, both teams scored a touchdown with extra points — setting a competitive tone for their upcoming games.  Longview News-Journal
