- ➤ On Sunday, Tyler’s Glass House Resource Center gave East Texas students free haircuts, outfits, and dental supplies to help lower back-to-school costs — easing the financial burden on families. Founder Erin Bailey said the program was designed to support community students as school began. KETK

- ➤ The City of Marshall joined the Brew City program to boost its local craft beer scene—helping attract beer fans and promote economic growth by spotlighting historic spots like Rüeggenbach Brewing Company. KETK
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, more than 8,000 Longview ISD students returned to school for their first day of class at Forest Park Middle School, and teachers started the new 'Crew and a Cause' program – groups that help students make friends and do community service – to ease the jump to middle school. KETK
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Monday night, the Tatum Lady Eagles won the first set but lost 3-1 to the Central Heights Lady Devils in their season opener. The result marked another win for Central Heights among top-ranked 3A teams while Tatum prepares for the Garland Sasche Tourney on August 15-16. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Longview High School tennis team finished 1-1 over the weekend with an 18-1 win over Tyler High & a 13-6 loss to Humble Kingwood and will host Hallsville on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Lobo Tennis Complex. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ The Southland Conference and ESPN signed a six-year media rights extension that will start in the 2025-26 season and cover key basketball and football games. The new deal guarantees national broadcasts on ESPN channels — giving fans a broader look at Southland sports. Longview News-Journal
