Commissioners are proposing to raise Gregg County’s property tax rate to 30.4331 cents per $100 valuation for the 2025-26 fiscal year to fund planned capital projects (including road work, airport upgrades, and courthouse improvements) and a public hearing on the proposal will be held on Aug 26. County officials also approved a 4% pay raise for elected officials and employees (a move aimed at easing staffing shortages).

The Ark-La-Tex Junior Golf Tour ended its season on Monday at Pinecrest Country Club in Longview—players in various divisions, including Brooks Cox and Garrett Crawford, competed over nine or 18 holes and earned division wins and player of the year honors.
