GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today at 7 a.m. crews will switch traffic on Mobberly Avenue in Longview by opening the northbound outside lane and closing the southbound lane for driveway and sidewalk construction under the Mobberly Avenue Complete Street Project; work by True Roads Construction will continue until further notice.  Longview News-Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • The 55th M&P Group Texas State Open—presented by Joyce Crane—will begin tomorrow at Cascades Golf & Country Club and continue through August 1 with 156 golfers competing for a $200,000 purse. Golfers will tee off at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. while fans may park near Mewbourne Field for shuttle service.  Longview News-Journal
  • Former Longview Lobo Trent Williams, 37 and in his 16th NFL season, played left tackle at 49ers training camp last Sunday and praised his team after returning from injuries that kept him out for seven games last season. He signed a three-year, $82.6 million contract last summer + coach Kyle Shanahan lauded his power + the team expects him to keep competing at a high level.  Longview News-Journal
