ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters from Smith County and Lufkin were sent to central Texas to help flood victims after flooding on Saturday killed 43 in Kerr County and left 2 dead and 10 missing, with the Lufkin team leaving just before 12:00 p.m. to join strike and search teams. KETK
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the Greenhouse and Nursery Pest Management Seminar on July 25 in Overton—registration costs $50. The seminar runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center, offering continuing education units for pesticide applicator license holders. Kilgore News Herald

- ➤ Kilgore City Council will host a budget workshop meeting on Tuesday, July 8 at 11:30 a.m. at City Hall Council Chambers (815 North Kilgore St.) where citizens may sign speakers' cards for agenda items.
