- ➤ After One Big, Beautiful Bill passed on Thursday, Rep. Moran said the legislation supports working-class families and small businesses by cutting $1.5 trillion from the budget to change tax laws and overtime rules—renewing the government’s commitment. The bill passed with 218 votes in favor and 214 opposed—aiming to provide tax relief and paid leave credits for workers, teachers, farmers and rural communities. KETK
- ➤ Longview City Council is considering raising its reserve fund requirement to 15% after City Finance Director Coen noted the fund balance is estimated at $23.6 million (well above the $15 million needed) and explained that the reserve protects against short-term losses. Mayor Ishihara said she will bring the proposal back to the council for a vote in the next month as the council also reviews plans to use excess funds for road repairs and fire engine replacements.
