- ➤ Local comic fans celebrated the second East Texas Comic Con held this past weekend at the Longview Exhibit Center where they joined panels with Michael Kovach, Emily Neves and David Matranga. Convention director Javier Torres said the event showed strong local support for cosplay—highlighting a deep love for comic characters in our community. KETK
- ➤ City officials announced that Longview will restart swim lessons at Ingram Pool on July 7 after a five-year pause caused by COVID and staffing issues — classes are designed for young children with small groups offered in two sessions. Registration for the first session is open until July 2 and the second session from June 30 to July 17, with a cost of $60 per student. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ Gregg County’s plan to add two public access points to the Sabine River at Texas 42 and FM 2087 has stalled after a 25% grant match and delayed Sabine River Authority board meeting halted its progress — Commissioner Ray Bostick said the county is still working on the project with a consultant and will seek funding in the next grant cycle. - ➤ Former congressman Beto O’Rourke held a town hall meeting at the Holiday Inn Ballroom in Tyler on Sunday where nearly 900 East Texans shared worries about a proposed water sale that may lower local supplies—he also addressed concerns about rural hospital closures and plans to host more meetings to answer community questions.
