- ➤ Longview officials approved a $4.3 million contract to build a new pool at Stamper Park after a recent council meeting, and state Rep. Jay Dean announced Texas will contribute $3 million to reduce the city's cost from an estimated $6 million to about $2.3 million—an outcome celebrated by local leaders. The project now meets a 10% match requirement with city funds. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Rep Moran reintroduced the Rural Weather Monitoring Systems Act on Friday to improve radar coverage in rural East Texas & help detect severe weather earlier. The bill directs the National Weather Service to locate gaps in coverage and instructs the GAO to review obstacles to modern radar deployment. KETK
