- ➤ Longview Police Sgt. Drew Allison earned the Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for starting a training hub that helped more than 1,500 first responders. Local businesses and groups also shared news as Coghlan Crowson named Jackie Carr as a new senior associate—Domino’s franchise owner Brian Bailey received the Gold Franny Award, Austin Bank promoted three top executives, and UT Tyler along with Longview World of Wonders earned key awards and grants. - ➤ The Moto Xtreme Circus combined action sports and circus acts on Saturday at the Longview Rodeo Arena — the show featured the X-Metal Riders, BMX freestyle, Globe of Death and other thrill acts — and the tour will continue through August across Texas. Longview News-Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kilgore Public Library has expanded its weekly story time into a bilingual program for preschoolers—offering English and Spanish stories to help young children learn new language skills. The program meets every Thursday at 9:30 a.m.—featuring themed stories, songs, and crafts that engage local families. Kilgore News Herald
- ➤ East Texas students received multiple scholarships to support their education—three Gregg County graduates, including two from Longview, won $2,000 safe driving awards based on essay entries while other local students earned $2,000 academic scholarships and 35 high school graduates received part of a $35,000 award from VeraBank.
