- ➤ Texas lawmakers rejected SB 1122, a bill that would have added extra rules to ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act), which many said would have raised costs for small businesses in Longview. Chamber of Commerce President Kelly Hall said the vote keeps a flexible, business-friendly climate that supports jobs and growth in our area. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ A Florida man—identified as Cecil Devon Brown, 43—was arrested by Smith County officials on Friday after he refused to pull over while driving an 18-wheeler on I-20, with officers deploying road spikes near mile marker 582 that deflated his tires and ended the chase when he exited toward Kilgore at a Baskin Robbins. - ➤ The City of Longview will launch HealthyView, a free six-month wellness initiative in July that helps adults track fitness with classes, step counts, and weight loss while awarding monthly prizes and a $1,000 grand prize.
