CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Since April 25, vandals have damaged the six outdoor pickleball courts at Guthrie Park by painting them with epoxy and yellow paint and chipping a piece of concrete—city officials estimate the repairs will cost about $9,000 and need a week of closure. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ Expert storyteller Margaret Clauder will perform a whimsical tale for the Summer Reading Club on June 18 at Pine Tree Elementary School Auditorium from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.—she will use puppets, props, songs, dance and interactive games to teach kids about the Color Our World theme. - ➤ The city of Longview demolished its longtime firefighter training tower near Stamper Park on Tuesday using an excavator to remove the condemned structure that had raised safety concerns. The removal marks a step forward & bids for a planned city pool will be awarded this summer with construction set to finish by spring 2026. Longview News-Journal
