COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The summer swim season in Longview begins June 6 at Ingram Pool at 1400 N. 10th St. with Splash Day at noon and $1 admission; additional pools, including a new facility at Stamper Park, will open later this summer with learn-to-swim classes offered. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Summer feeding programs will start June 1 for children and eligible adults at 14 Longview locations, offering breakfast and lunch on weekdays through July. Run by the East Texas Food Bank and Texas Department of Agriculture, the initiative will provide over 100,000 meals to more than 4,500 local children. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ Mason Barnes—Spring Hill’s standout pitcher—earned MVP honors for the District 16-4A All-District Baseball Team after driving in 19 runs and posting a 10-2 record with a 1.01 ERA. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ The Piney Woods TimberHogs beat the Bryan Yard Dogs 14-4 on Thursday, May 28 with Boone Branson recording four hits and three RBIs and Judge Boudreaux driving in three runs (the team built a six-run second inning lead). Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Bullard’s Lady Panthers clinched their first Class 4A DI state softball title Friday with a 3-0 win over Prosper Richland at Red & Charline McCombs Field, highlighted by Brooklyn Brannen’s complete game two-hit shutout. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ On Thursday, the Burton Panthers rallied for an 8+6 win over the Beckville Bearcats at Don Sanders Stadium in Huntsville; they will play the state title game on June 4 at Dell Diamond. In a separate game, the Frankston Indians fell 2+1 to the Iola Bulldogs at Huntsville ISD Stadium. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Former Lobo Trent Williams will host his free football camp at Lobo Stadium on Saturday, June 13 from 8 a.m. until noon. Registration starts at 7:45 a.m. and campers (incoming freshmen to seniors) must be accompanied by an adult for a waiver. Longview News-Journal
