- ➤ East Texans gathered at Lake Palestine Resort on Friday to remember the 2024 tornado and raise funds for victims of the early May tornado in Frankston. The resort donated 10% of its kitchen and bar sales to help local families rebuild (a clear show of community support). KETK
- ➤ The Gregg County Historical Museum will host the Underwater Science and Subs Summer Camp for kids ages 8 to 13, offering hands-on underwater science sessions each morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. from June 24 to 27 + only 25 spots are available at a cost of $100 per child. Kilgore News Herald

- ➤ Braum's filed plans to build its third store in Longview at 1420 W. Loop 281 — near Dutch Bros Coffee and across from Milano's Ristorante. The filing says construction will start in August and be finished by February 2028 at a cost of $800,000. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ Pine Tree High School held its graduation last Thursday at Pirate Stadium in Longview as seniors received their diplomas. Valedictorian Sophia Nix and salutatorian Laurelise Beakley led the class honors—marking a proud academic milestone. Longview News-Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Longview water rights activists urged state lawmakers to oppose a proposed reservoir and water sale from Lake O’ The Pines because the projects could take homes, farms, and forests and harm local industries. The reservoir plan, which may use eminent domain and be finished by 2050, has locals calling for better conservation steps — they want safer options for East Texas water. Longview News-Journal
