- ➤ East Texas CASA keeps serving children in family court cases across Gregg, Rusk and Upshur counties even after federal funding cuts to its national partner. The local group, which does not use national grants, served 305 children in 2024 and uses online training—helping volunteers deliver vital court reports. Longview News-Journal
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Longview police arrested Frank Eliseo Barrientos (32) at Premier Road and Marshall Avenue Thursday morning after he was identified as an armed and dangerous suspect wanted on an outstanding warrant for aggravated robbery. Longview News-Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gregg County commissioners approved almost $160,000 for road repairs and resurfacing in Pcts. 2, 3 and 4 as they begin overlay projects on Shell Camp Road and Shell Circle Drive (with materials supplied by Gladewater) and proceed with drainage and asphalt repairs on Locker Plant Road (using county labor and equipment).
