- ➤ McDonald's began construction for its new Spring Hill restaurant and tentatively will open Aug. 12 with a grand opening celebration within three weeks & a state-of-art ordering system. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Titus Regional Medical Center employees in good standing will keep their jobs after May 1 as part of the purchase by Christus Health, hospital officials said. The sale aims to preserve services and improve the financial outlook in the community while expanding Christus’ regional health network. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ The West boys' team edged the East team by a score of 82 to 79 in the Azalea Orthopedics All-Star Basketball Classic last Saturday night at Tyler Junior College’s Wagstaff Gymnasium (DJ Gaddis led with 20 points and 7 rebounds to secure MVP honors). Longview News-Journal
- ➤ The East team won 69-55 in the girls Azalea Orthopedics All-Star Basketball Classic Saturday night at Tyler Junior College's Wagstaff Gymnasium, finishing strong with a 21-point fourth quarter. Keileigh Edwards earned MVP honors (13 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists) for her performance. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Local athlete Haynes King signed a free agent deal with the Panthers with a $250,000 guarantee, as reported by (NFL Network insider) Tom Pelissero. Former Texas Tech standout Tyree Wilson was traded to the New Orleans Saints in a draft day move. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Yesterday at Tempest Golf Club, Louie Lee of Montgomery shot a four-under 68 to lead the Texas Super Senior Amateur (Super Senior Division). The second round tees off today at 8:00 a.m. from holes #1 and #10. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ East Texas softball teams competed in bi-district playoffs today as Van beat Spring Hill 9–2 and Hallsville won a series over Denison while Carthage and other teams posted standout hitting and pitching. Local teams advanced in tight games that set the stage for upcoming playoff rounds. Longview News-Journal
