- ➤ Kilgore College Theater presents final performances of 'Small Mouth Sounds' by Bess Wohl at the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Center this weekend — today at 7:30 p.m. and tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Students Mariana Saldaña and Ori Bedregal promoted the play on KETK Studios in Tyler. Kilgore News Herald
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Greater Caddo Lake Association and Texas Parks and Wildlife are teaming to educate boaters on motor noise and exhaust rules this summer on Caddo Lake. Game wardens will add signage and extra staffing to keep the lake quiet. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ Local softball action is heating up as the Lady Lobos kicked off the Class 6A playoffs with a 10-5 win over Garland today — key hits from Aniya Wilder and Jadasia Mims broke a tie in the eighth inning, and the team will face Copperas Cove or Mesquite Horn next. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Two TAPPS coaching staffs are set to lead the boys game of the Azalea Orthopedics All-Star Basketball Classic today at 7 p.m. at Tyler Junior College's Wagstaff Gymnasium, with tickets costing $6 for adults and $3 for students while funds benefit Bethesda Health Clinic. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ TimberHogs will begin their third season on May 21 at White Oak’s Roughneck Field at City Park. The Mid-America League team has a 61-game schedule planned and will run themed promotions while seeking host families (for players). Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Coach Meagan Leggett will lead the Girls East team at the Azalea Orthopedics All-Star High School Basketball Classic today at 5:30 p.m. at Tyler Junior College's Wagstaff Gymnasium, reuniting with her former Longview players for one last game together. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Longview High School assistant coach Oscar Wilson received the Tom Landry Award and Coach King earned the Coaching Beyond the Game Award from the Texas High School Coaches Association, recognizing decades of leadership and mentoring in football. The awards underscored their lasting contributions to the Lobos program. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ The (12th) annual ETVarsity Best Preps event will be held Wednesday at Maude Cobb Convention Center in Longview to honor student-athletes excelling in sports, academics, and community service. Coaches nominated athletes meeting (a 3.0 GPA and 10 volunteer hours) criteria, and former winner Jayden Mount will speak. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ East Texas softball playoffs saw the Longview Lady Lobos beat Garland (10-5) in North Forney while teams from Tyler, Forney, Hallsville, Carthage, White Oak and Overton advanced in their Class series, and Navarro College swept KC in regional contests. Kilgore News Herald
