- ➤ The Women's Center of East Texas opened its new Rotary Resource Room at 1011 Wal St. to provide food, toiletries and bedding for abuse survivors using a $3,500 grant from the Greggton Rotary Club. Michelle Kelley—a former client now working at G.E.T. Moving and Storage—helped stock the shelves and began a donation drive to keep the supplies replenished. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ The Historic Longview Farmers Market returned for spring behind Silver Grizzly Espresso on Saturday with produce vendors, live music and baked goods drawing shoppers. The market will run every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.—until the first signs of winter appear. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Priscilla Abshier 'Prissy' Silva celebrated her 88th birthday with family and friends as the community honored her long career as a Rangerette and local leader. She was named Miss Kilgore in 1956, led the Rangerettes in 1955—56, and started Pepco Promotional— a company that makes cheerleading and drill team supplies and where her daughter also served as a Rangerette Captain.
