- ➤ Red Rooster Icehouse in Hawkins, known for live music acts since 2017, will host Confederate Railroad tomorrow & welcome Keith Anderson on July 25, David Frizzell on Aug. 22 and Doug Stone on Oct. 2 as owner Taylor Young remodels the venue for expanded seating. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Longview native country singer Sunny Sweeney will headline the Great Texas Balloon Race concert on June 13 at the Convention Complex; the festival runs from June 12 to 14 with Marshall native Wes Jeans headlining the June 12 show alongside L.A. - ➤ KHS teacher and SkillsUSA advisor Cheyenne Kirkpatrick was named State Advisor of the Year at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference in Corpus Christi in early April, and her district and students celebrated her achievement (recognizing her support in student healthcare training). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents near Longview attended a SWEPCO town hall on Apr. 7 at the Longview Exhibit Center to share opinions on proposed routes for relocating a 60-year-old 2-mile power line. The project will affect many landowners and public comments remain open through April as final decisions await the Public Utility Commission. Longview News-Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Kilgore College Rangers split a doubleheader on Wednesday, winning 5-3 by scoring all runs early but losing 2-0 to Bossier Parish in Region XIV Conference play. The team will host Northeast Texas Community College on Saturday (at 1 and 3 p.m.) at The Ballpark at KC Commons. Longview News-Journal
