- ➤ Longview’s Ingram Pool at 1400 N. 10th St. opens for Splash Day on June 6 from noon to 6 p.m. for $1 admission, and the new Stamper Park pool will open July 1 at the park’s southeast corner near Nelson and Fair Streets (further details will be announced later). Longview News-Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hydrologist Mark Wentzel said if spring rains continue, parts of East Texas will see drought recovery before summer—South Texas is expected to remain drier. Early rains helped 5% of the state exit level 1 drought. Longview News-Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ 9-year-old Adeline, in remission after battling leukemia for two years, will walk the runway at the Children’s Cancer Fund Fashion Show & Gala in Dallas tomorrow where her painting will be auctioned to support pediatric cancer research and she'll meet Troy Aikman and Dak Prescott. Longview News-Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Lady Lobos clinched a playoff spot after a 15-4 win Tuesday at Pine Tree’s Lady Pirate Field & Brittany Jackson’s walk-off home run ended a two-year postseason drought; they will complete the regular season at Royse City Friday. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Chaka Jackson, who compiled nearly 350 wins over 16 seasons at Longview High (347–255 record), left to coach White Oak’s volleyball team and will lead a program that reached the playoffs for seven seasons. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ White Oak Roughnecks finished third at the Class 3A Region II Tournament at Oak Hurst Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday, earning a state bid as Preston Haas won a bronze medal in a playoff. The UIL State Golf Tournament will be held April 27-28 in Austin. Longview News-Journal
