- ➤ Bullard High School senior Claire Fath was accepted at both the Air Force Academy and the Military Academy at West Point but said she will attend the Air Force Academy to follow her dream of becoming a pilot. KETK

- ➤ Taylor Owings was named Kilgore's new city clerk at a recent city council meeting — she joined the city staff in 2021 as a special event coordinator who organized events such as Oktoberfest and the Reel East Texas Film Festival. Her appointment fills a key role as the city returns to full operations under City Manager Rachel Rowe. Kilgore News Herald
- ➤ On Friday, Rep. Jay Dean said the North Texas Water District Board made a deal to get water from closer sources instead of buying rights to water from Lake O’ the Pines — local leaders and several counties passed measures to protect their water. Dean also added an amendment during a budget hearing to stop state spending on inter-basin water transfers from the East Texas Cypress Basin. KETK
