- ➤ The library will host Teen Hangout with Easter Egg Coloring on April 12 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for teens 13-17 after the Chautauqua Festival, and free supplies and light snacks will be provided. City of Longview
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Friday morning, a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 69 near Bullard slowed northbound traffic and drivers were urged to use caution as emergency personnel managed the scene—updates on the crash are expected. KETK
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Visitors attended the first ArtWalk of the year on Thursday evening in downtown Longview despite a threat of thunderstorms— the free self-guided tour led them by local businesses where artists, musicians and others showed their work. Arts!Longview said the next ArtWalk will be on June 5— a fall event on Oct. 2 and a holiday edition on Dec. 11 are planned. Longview News-Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Longview ISD educators were honored on Thursday, April 3 at Pinecrest Country Club by the Longview ISD Foundation when students in kindergarten, fifth, eighth and 12th grades chose their favorite teachers and shared essays about them—awards were presented during the banquet. Since 1996 the foundation has returned over $1.14 million to classrooms and campuses through grant programs—supporting both academic and extracurricular projects. Longview News-Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Texas House bill introduced by Rep. Jared Patterson—proposing that social media companies verify users’ ages and delete children’s accounts when parents request it—advanced out of the Trade Workforce & Economic Development Committee on Wednesday. Social media companies will face penalties if they knowingly allow children on their platforms and the bill now heads to the full House for a vote. Longview News-Journal
