- ➤ At 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Bramlette STEAM Elementary in Longview hosted a ribbon cutting for a new book vending machine from the Read to Succeed program by Greater Longview United Way. The machine is the 19th in East Texas and lets students use tokens to get books of about 200–300 pages—boosting their access to reading. KETK

- ➤ Officer Josh Marrs saved a teacher's life in September 2024 by performing chest compressions and coordinating the use of an AED when she became unresponsive during a Spring Hill ISD class; the police department awarded him the Lifesaving Award on Thursday afternoon for his quick actions. KETK
