- ➤ Gregg County child advocates gathered Tuesday at the courthouse — where Judge Tim Womack read a proclamation — to recognize National Child Abuse Awareness Month and call for more community support and volunteer training. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ On Tuesday, city officials, lawmakers, and residents commended Longview firefighters for rescuing two people from a hot air balloon stuck on a radio tower — the rescue on Feb. 28 drew national attention. The ceremony at the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center honored the brave efforts of the local team. Longview News-Journal

SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Tyler Legacy defeated Longview 9-2 in District 10-6A baseball on Tuesday night at Mike Carter Field, with strong pitching from Jaden Davis and timely hits by the Red Raiders. Legacy is scheduled to return to Longview at 7 p.m. Thursday as weather permits. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ The Sabine Lady Cardinals finished third at the District 16-3A Golf Tournament at Oakhurst Golf Club in Bullard on Tuesday, with Avery Rutland’s rounds (88 and 90) earning her overall district champion status and advancement to regionals on April 15-16 while the Sabine boys also reached regionals on April 13-14. - ➤ Wiley University is launching Women’s Flag Football to broaden athletic opportunities for female student-athletes. Recruitment begins immediately and the team will reach varsity status by the 2027–28 season (a major new step in university sports). Longview News-Journal
