EDUCATION NEWS

➤ Almost 200 prospective students and families visited LeTourneau University on Saturday for the annual Engineering & Aviation Preview Day. Attendees toured labs, experienced flight demonstrations, and viewed progress on the Abbott Aviation Center expansion to learn more about the hands-on, Christ-centered education. GOVERNMENT NEWS

➤ Longview will join a statewide emergency alert test from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, coordinated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, and will also run its local test at noon (no action is needed). Residents may receive multiple test alerts on their phones during the window. Longview News-Journal

SPORTS NEWS

➤ The Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association poll released Tuesday, Mar. 31 placed Panthers 8th among Class 6A teams (with schools like Cy Ranch and Magnolia West also receiving votes), highlighting strong statewide competition in high school sports. Longview News-Journal
➤ Harmony's Jake Rider was named Pitcher of the Week after throwing a no-hitter against Daingerfield in his only start, while Kilgore's Miles Applegate earned Hitter of the Week honors following wins over Cumberland Academy for games played March 23 to 28. Their standout performances highlight local baseball talent. Longview News-Journal
➤ Trinity Valley swept a Region XIV Conference softball doubleheader against Kilgore College in Athens on Monday, winning 15-0 and 5-4 to push their record to 33-5 while Kilgore dropped to 11-29. Longview News-Journal
