- ➤ Archila Richardson, a Longview woman who started the B.R.A.V.E after-school program in 2019, teaches about 25 youth at the Broughton Recreation Center to recognize and report bullying—she also helps parents, especially Spanish speakers, talk with school officials about their concerns. - ➤ Windridge Therapeutic Equestrian Center received a $38,500 grant—awarded by the AEP Foundation at SWEPCO's request—to fund rider scholarships for individuals with special needs and veterans who take part in its therapeutic horsemanship program. The funding supports an initiative that began in 1988 when founder Margo Dewkett started the center. KETK

Tickets cost ($31.50) and are available on the Rangerettes website, and shows are scheduled for April 5 at 7:30 p.m. and April 6 at 2 p.m., with additional shows on (April 10, 11, and 12 at 7:30 p.m.). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local leaders in Longview are fighting a proposed sales tax bill in the Legislature that would change how taxes are collected and risk millions in revenue for city services (this change could shift tax money from companies like Gap Inc.). State Rep. Jay Dean plans to meet with the bill’s sponsor as officials warn that new rules may phase out economic development agreements (key to funding local services) within five years if the bill passes. - ➤ Longview Municipal Court has temporarily relocated to the Roy Stone Training Center at 302 W. Cotton St.—its move due to a planned renovation of the Municipal Annex.
