EDUCATION NEWS

  • Work continues on installing solar panels at Longview ISD campuses following a $456.2 million bond package approved in 2024 — crews at East Texas Montessori Prep Academy, Judson STEAM Academy, and the Education Support Center are making progress as Schneider Electric leads work at 10 district facilities.  Longview News-Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wall senior quarterback Landon York was named offensive player of the year and Yoakum senior defensive lineman X’Zavier Barnett earned defensive player honors on the Blue Bell/TSWA Class 3A All-State Football Team, which recognizes outstanding local high school talent.   • The Kilgore College Rangers edged Blinn 63-62 — with free throws in the final 2.9 seconds — at Masters Gymnasium on Saturday. Their win improved their record to 20-3 and they will host Paris Monday at 6 p.m.  Kilgore News Herald
  • Kilgore College men’s team won 64-58 over Navarro on Wednesday, improving their record to 22-3 with five games remaining. Meanwhile, the Lady Rangers saw their seven-game winning streak end with a 50-48 loss to Blinn as their softball team dropped two contests to Galveston.  Longview News-Journal
  • Hallsville swimmers Parker O’Dowd and Aryana Hallan along with Longview’s three-time qualifier Sean Lipp will compete in the UIL State Swim Meet this weekend at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at UT in Austin — they will race the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, and 100 breaststroke.  Longview News-Journal
