COMMUNITY NEWS

  • ETX View announced the 2025-2026 winners of its fifth-annual 40 Under Forty awards Saturday morning, honoring young professionals in fields from community leadership to arts and education. East Texas Professional Credit Union presents the awards.  Longview News-Journal

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Right Side Restaurant opened in Lakeport in September at 1037 Gardiner Mitchell Parkway, serving seafood and breakfast inspired by biblical verses. East Texas Financial Corp finished acquiring Texas National Bancorporation, and Edward Jones advisor Brea Pogue relocated her branch to Hallsville with no immediate changes.  Longview News-Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Overton’s McMillan Memorial Library hosts local author Dan Morris for its BookTalk series today at noon — he will discuss his book Danbaghdad: The Untold Story of Iraq. A light lunch is offered with no registration required.  Kilgore News Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • Titus Regional Medical Center is set to be sold to Christus Health after financial challenges, and hospital operations continue uninterrupted as officials promise to maintain key services and women’s health care (more details on service changes are expected soon).  Longview News-Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • LeTourneau baseball swept Millsaps in a doubleheader at Conrad-Vernon Field on Saturday as Blake Goodridge tossed six shutout innings, with the YellowJackets winning 7-0 and 10-5. They will open SCAC play on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. against Austin College.  Longview News-Journal
  • LeTourneau lost both season-opening games to No. 14 Belhaven in Jackson Saturday—falling 7-3 then 5-4, which leaves the YellowJackets at 0-2; the team will host Austin College on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. for its home opener.  Longview News-Journal
  • Kaiden Myers hit a game-winning 3-pointer as Kilgore College Rangers edged Lee College 61-59 in a Region XIV Conference game on Saturday. Kilgore now leads the league at 18-3 and will host home games later this week.  Longview News-Journal
  • White Oak’s boys powerlifting team won the Battle for the 903 meet held over the weekend at Paul Pewitt High School after a coin flip broke a first-place tie; they will compete in the White Oak Invitational on Friday.  Longview News-Journal
  • LeTourneau men's basketball dominated Hendrix with a 109 to 61 win Saturday at Grove Gym (a 48 point margin and their largest against an NCAA team). The team will host Ozarks on Friday, Feb. 13, at 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the women’s team lost 74 to 69 in overtime.  Longview News-Journal
