- ➤ Today in Jefferson, the Krewe of Hebe begins its 36th Annual Mardi Gras celebration with a DooDah Parade starting at 7 p.m. at Lion’s Park. The weekend will offer live music, parades, and local food vendors (family-friendly fun) that boost community spirit. Longview News-Journal

- ➤ Pine Tree ISD opened a new Skilled Trades Center today behind the Pirate Center Gym at Pine Tree High School; officials and the Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the 25,000 sqft facility that provides hands-on training in construction, welding and automotive technologies. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ East Texas Treatment Facility started the interLIFT program on Thursday, Feb. 5 to help clients become peer educators and learn new ways to cope with substance use. Warden Bernadette Rodriguez said the program gives tools & hope to change lives. Kilgore News Herald
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, the Kilgore College Rangers won a 55-49 Region XIV game against Trinity Valley at Masters Gymnasium to improve to 10-2 in conference play - Kaiden Myers led with 15 points. They will play their next game on Saturday. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ Region XIV conference basketball standings show Kilgore leading the men with a 17-3 record and TVCC topping the women with a 19-2 record as reported by Longview News-Journal. Teams will play scheduled games on Saturday with matchups at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. across the region. Longview News-Journal
