- ➤ Friends of the Longview Public Library continue their book sale today from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with Friday specials offering boxes for $2 and bags for $1 — library staff advise using side entrances after a cracked glass panel from an ice fall. Longview News-Journal
- ➤ On Wednesday, SWEPCO donated 11 pallets of refrigerated food (milk, bacon, cheese, and boxed lunches) to nonprofit Newgate Mission on Mobberly Avenue in Longview. The donation helped feed over 200 people daily after Winter Storm Fern increased the mission's need for meals. Longview News-Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Longview ISD began construction on its new bond-funded Early Childhood Learning Center on Melba Street yesterday. The 79,000 sqft facility with over 30 classrooms is designed for children from 6 weeks to 4 years old — it will expand early learning and help ease local childcare waitlists. Longview News-Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Spring Hill’s Lady Panthers rallied in the second quarter to beat the Kilgore Lady Bulldogs 48-25 at Panther Gymnasium on Wednesday, improving to 23-6 overall while Kilgore dropped to 15-11. In the boys game, Kilgore edged the contest with a 43-30 win as Spring Hill fell to 5-17. Longview News-Journal
