At Ware Elementary School on Wednesday, the East Texas Literacy Council held its 35th Bee for Literacy when teams from Eastman Chemical and Longview Christian Church competed, and Eastman employees Jennifer Flodder and Laurel Plagens clinched the win by spelling 'serendipitous' correctly.

The Greenwood Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at 707 Magrill St. in Longview to discuss plans for managing and preserving the historic cemetery, and community members are invited to learn about its efforts to honor local landmarks.
Today, downtown hosts ArtWalk from 5 to 8 p.m. with over 125 vendors featuring local painters, sculptors, authors, and chefs. Patriotic songs by ArtsView Children’s Theatre Show Choir will play (5 to 5:30 p.m.), and food trucks will be available.
